Strategic Conquest

production decisions for the Friendly player. To activate Auto Play, select it from the Options menu. A dialog box will appear informing you that Auto Play will begin on the next day. To deactivate Auto Play, select it again, and you may continue to play from that point onward. During Auto Play, you may alter the production and movement factors in the game, exactly as if you were still playing - the computer will alter these back, however, when it sees fit to do so. The Talking option will make the computer talk while it is displaying messages in the message bar. Talking will only work with the Macintosh SE and earlier Macs. It is independent of any selection of Sound level. The Battle Summary option works only for a two player/one Macintosh game. It provides a summary of each battle. The Send Message command allows you to converse with your opponent over the Red Phone, if you are playing an AppleTalk game. Great for verbal influences.
The Hide Menu
The Boss Coming option under the Hide menu provides a fast way of camouflaging your game from any outside eyes. It completely blacks out the screen and halts the action until there is a button click from the mouse.
Movinc, Terrain Types
There are two types of terrain, land and water. Land is represented as a gray shade or a green color. On it, cities are located. The only piece types that may move across land are armies, fighters, and bombers. No ocean-going piece type may move into a land sector, unless it is moving into a Friendly city. The second type of terrain is water, which is a white shade or a blue color. Any piece type may move over water except armies. Armies may not move across any water sector, unless they are loaded on transports.
Piece Types
There are eight types of pieces, plus cities. These pieces are illustrated below:
City Army Fighter Destroyer Submarine Transport Carrier Battleship Bomber
Friendly
Each piece has distinct attributes. Armies may only move over land, but they are the only pieces that may conquer cities. Cities are the only source of production of the various pieces in the game. Fighters are fast, but have limited range. Destroyers are the fastest ocean-going type and can find submarines, but they are relatively weak. Submarines are invisible to all except for destroyers and fighters, and they attack and defend at a higher strength than they are rated at. Transports are very weak and will always draw or lose when initiating combat, but they are the only way to move armies across water. Carriers are strong and can refuel and transport fighters across large expanses of water, but are easy prey for submarines. Battleships are the strongest piece type and can destroy most other pieces easily, but are fairly defenseless to submarine attack. The bomber is the most powerful piece, able to neutralize Enemy cities without harming the cities and to destroy Enemy pieces at will. They have an ever-increasing destructive power as the conflict progresses, but are relatively slow, may be used only once each, and are easily defeated by fighters. Care must be exercised when moving an arcraft-type piece, so as to not exceed the maximum range that fuel stores on that aircraft will allow. Aircraft will automatically refuel when they have passed into a friendly city.
Movement Types
There are two categories of movement: Automatic and Manual. Automatic movements are those that are controlled by the computer (such as City Destination, Load, Sleep, Patrol, etc.). Manual movements include Destination and Manual, and are controlled by the player. A Destination move is accomplished by dragging the piece from the sector in which it is located to a desired sector. Simply place the cursor over the desired piece and click and drag the cursor to
